Supporting your journey

How the IBMS can support your journey
All of our members are expected to display the highest standards of professionalism and a commitment to ethical conduct, giving at all times due care and consideration to others and putting the interests of the patient first.
That's why professional attitudes and behaviours are embodied in our Code of Conduct, and all members are bound to abide and uphold.
They also reflect HCPC standards and members are expected to display the highest standards of professionalism and a commitment to ethical conduct, giving at all times due care and consideration to others and putting the interests of the patient first.
Designed to support you to meet the HCPC standards required to practice as a registered biomedical scientist, we have developed professional guidance documents which include the Good Professional Practice guide.
Continuing professional development CPD
By providing a framework for recording your training and learning activities, along with access to our CPD resources, the IBMS CPD scheme will enable you to show you meet HCPC standards.
Our CPD ePortfolio is designed so that you can easily download activities recorded in your ePortfolio to use as evidence for your HCPC CPD audit.
Our CPD scheme reflects HCPC CPD categories, making it easier for you to use activities recorded in your IBMS CPD ePortfolio as evidence that you have met HCPC CPD standards.
To enable you to show how your CPD meets the HCPC standards, our CPD scheme includes headings under the reflective notes section for each CPD activity you record, including:
• What learning did you undertake?
• Explain what you learned or achieved
• How have you applied this in your day-to-day practice?
• How could this benefit the service user?
One of the many benefits of IBMS membership is access to our legal helpline, giving you access to free legal advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
